About

I’ve been happily married for thirty-six years to a lovely lady who is my best friend. We have five adult kids between the ages of 26 and 36. We were blessed with our first grandchild, an exceptionally cute boy, in November 2021. His gorgeous sister arrived in February 2023, and we welcomed our youngest grandson in April 2025. My wife and I enjoy reading, cooking, hiking, and traveling.

I worked as a physician for over thirty years. I always enjoyed the art of medicine, but not the business of medicine. My wife and I are now happily retired.

Great literature has held a special place in my heart since I was a little kid. I read voraciously in a wide variety of genres, not just the genre in which I write. My wife and I are old-school in that we prefer real books, with paper pages, to e-books (though I have both). Over the years, we’ve amassed a library of many hundreds of books.

When I was younger, I wrote quite a bit. Then came medicine, family, kids. Before I knew it, I was in my fifties. It was time to do something new. In July 2018, I completed the first draft of a young adult novel titled Beautiful. As any new writer will attest, the first novel is a learning experience (but less expensive than an MFA in creative writing).

I write most days, but not every day. The extensively re-edited second edition of my first novel, Beautiful, came out in May 2024. My second novel, Beautifully Made, describes the further adventures of Cara, Adam, and Linnea as the shit teed up in Beautiful hits the proverbial fan. Beautifully Made came out April 30, 2025. I’m hard at work on my third novel, which is unrelated to the first two. This may or may not be wise, but when I’m stuck on my third novel, I work a little on my fourth book. I am a member of SCBWI and Speed City Sisters in Crime (yes, boys are welcome in Sisters in Crime, though historically it was for female crime and suspense writers), and I’m part of an excellent critique group. My habit of continuing education in medicine has transferred easily to books and blogs on the craft of writing.
